A Lifelong Passion for Weather

For Doug Heady, weather has never just been a job. From standing up in class to deliver the weekly forecast at five years old to leading the weather team at KOAM-TV in Joplin, his love for meteorology has always been front and center.

At only 18, he landed his first on-air position at a local cable station in Lawrence, Kansas. With dedication and drive, he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Chief Meteorologist. His career took him to KSHB-TV (NBC) in Kansas City before taking on his 17+ year role at KOAM-TV.

Today, Doug combines decades of forecasting experience with a genuine love for helping people understand and prepare for the weather.

Beyond the Forecast

The Christian Heady Foundation

Doug and his wife Leslie pour their hearts into the Christian Heady Foundation, created in memory of their son. Through the foundation, they raise funds to support children and families navigating cancer treatment, offering hope and help when it's needed most.
